Yesterday while out hiking the Bruce Trail through Dundas, I stopped for a coffee at Cafe Domestiique and received a little trail magic! A big thank you to Kris and the team for making the first official donation to my fundraiser for Project Canoe and giving me the motivation to announce it a little early. If you haven’t hear of project.canoe , they are an amazing organization who understand the power of the outdoors to transform lives and endeavour to provide opportunities to youth who may not otherwise have access to outdoor adventure. The outdoors has been my way of healing from many things, including the loss of my brother to mental illness and suicide when he was just 19. Connection with the outdoor experience can have a tremendous impact on our mental and physical health in so many ways and I’ forever grateful for the trail and how it’s helped heal and shape me into who I am today. I’m excited to keep moving forward with this hike and hopefully help others find themselves in the woods! The animal of the week is Terrance, a large garbage eating bird. Seagulls (Sea Eagles) are a graceful and elegant variety of Eagle native to anywhere there are humans and garbage.
